Warning Signs Before You Start Your Home Base Business

Have you been one of the unfortunate people to sign up for a home base business opportunity. We have been in the network market for 7 years.  We have marketed three different products and have now found the right one. 

When you joined your company, were you  not amazed at the story that was told to you that if you have a good product. That  all you have to do is to tell  everyone you see about your products and opportunity.  Eventually people would, you were told will sign up for that product and eventually the opportunity.   You most likely would have been invited to attend a weekend training or day event, known under various names.  Be warned before you attend one of these events do not get taken in by all the hype!

Your sponsor, mentor, up line whatever they call themselves would tell you that they are on a fantastic income from this business.  Our mentors in the second company we were told they were earning £18,000 British Pounds per month + company bonus. That was true.  They invited other hard hitters like themselves, it was a minority of people in the organisation, who also shared their financial success and the financial freedom they had gained from network marketing.  Look for signs of success in the ordinary distributors. 

No doubt at this training event you would have heard how good the product or products are.  Inspirational Speaker, after speaker would tell you that all you need to do is to duplicate, duplicate, duplicate, meaning follow on what everyone else does. Eventually, you too would be financially independent and have the choice to be in control of your life.

Then they would tell you to create a list of family and friends and try to get them to take the products.   They would suggest that you buy business cards and give them out to everyone you see.  For example, some companies would suggest you wear their badge, or button.   When you are  in a supermarket or out in the street, tap the badge/button, to bring attention to yourself. People would be get interested and you have the opportunity to share your products and business opportunity.  Be warned, our experience found that we just made a nuisance of ourselves.

Some training sessions will recommend that you use other methods of what they call free advertising on works notice boards and put up flyers or hot pockets.  One speaker told his listeners that he is an organised litter bug.  When he travels on public transport by accident he leaves on seats of buses, trains and airlines, or wherever he can flyers so that a casual passer-by will pick them up and order the product and seek the opportunity.

 I was told to deliver 500 flyers a week in households and repeat the same area putting the flyers through letters boxes every three weeks.  Speakers told us that out of 100 flyers, mathematically one would get three enquiries and from those a person would sign up for the program.  That did not happen there was no signs of success.  We spent a fortune on this method.  Be warned.

Finally, we were told to have a tasting party.  Again invite your circle of influence, family, friends, work colleagues, your local neighbours to your home.  Give them a taster of the products and they will sign up some days later.  Well, when I spoke to others at this conference we found again it was not that easy to sign people up. What this advice does is to upset your family and friends.  Why should anyone have to beg those you love and care about to buy your products.  Be warned you may loose friendships.

Then as with most MLN opportunities, apart from the product, which you should always lead with, there is the recruitment of distributors. Be on your guard if your mentor/sponsor tells you to recruit instead of  promoting the product.   Again, MLN companies will show you that as you put people under you, and they add people you will earn a residual income.   They may also show you that only in MLN can your income really grow if you grow your business.  It was told to us that in the corporate world, often the harder you work you are not always rewarded.  So be warned.
 
You will be told that compensation plans will pay not only for now but are better ways to secure a lifelong income right through and beyond retirement.  In other words you have got an income for life.  That income you may choose to pass on to your spouse, partner, children and grandchildren. 

Well, sadly 90-97 people who join MLM companies facts  reveal  fail.  They fail for a number of reasons.  Often their up-line is more keen to sign them up and then leave them to sink or swim.  Another reason is that it is proven that if a company has been in existence for many years, the cream of the income is being earn by those who came in as the original distributors.

Another reason, is that the weekend or day training events and the conference calls often encourage new recruits to use outdated methods, like the tasting parties, flyers, paper ads.

Many weekend events and training seminars are organised not by the MLM company but often by affiliate programs that promote the MLM products. Be on your guard if they try to sell you leads. I know of people who have lost loads of money.  

What for business that sell market MLM products or tools to promote your company on the   internet.  Many people have little knowledge of how to use this tools and are often the victim of internet offers than draw them in, take their money and they gain little result.
