Curio Wall Shelf

How to stain a curio & how to get this wall effect questions?

First, I have a large oak curio with glass in the front and 3 removable oak shelves in it. The rest of my furniture is cherry wood. Can I stain my curio in cherrywood? I am NOT handy type person, If so, how what do I need to buy exactly to do it?

Second question: I have attached a pic. I want to paint my walls a similar color (minus the pattern featured in the pic) but get the same gloss effect over the paint color as in the picture. What do I need to buy to do this and is this an easy process?

The walls look like venician plaster. Venician plaster can be found at home depot or lowes and they could explain application ( you must float your walls smooth with drywall mud and use a two coat application of plaster with a tighter finish and heavily burnished).

Sherwin williams should be able to match the stain color on oak if you have sample ( oak has a tight grain and will stain lighter, you may want a semitrans stain).
