help make the sentance descriptive?

I feel the rug cushioning my feet , the fluffy yarn like strings are rainbow colored ,and swallow most of the floor.

The stair case walls match the tan carpet as I linger up the straight stairs

Everyday I turn into my murky street { first sent of essay}

and is this a good sentance what should i change if it isnt:

Inside my house the plain white walls seem to close in all around me , the small decorations of paintings and vases catch my eye like a desolate tree with one last leaf.

what should i change in these sentances to make them flow and be better descriptive for an essay thanks

first sentence=somehow I can't get the sense that a rug can swallow a floor. Choose another word, like smother, or surround,or enveloping. Also fluffy yarn and strings are opposites, maybe a better choice of words would be 'like rainbow colored cotton?' I would change the word yarn to fibers.
second sentence=what makes the street murky?
third sentence seems fine, I wouldn't change a thing.

Topps Patrick Roy Proof 1991-92?

So in cleaning out my first car a number of years ago I found a Topps Patrick Roy All-Star card (#270) in a hard-shell plastic case, burried in the cushions of the back seat. According to the label on the case, it's a "proof" card, and the back of it is indeed just plain white. I just came across this card again unpacking a box that hadn't been opened in years.

My question would be, how the hell would I figure out what something like this is worth? I've Googled, but can find nothing specific. Most of the sports card store owners in my area are of the shadier variety and I wouldn't trust them to give me a straight answer, only trying to get it from me for as little as possible.

Anyone know where I can find out about something like this, or have experience with such a thing?
