Faux Spray Countertop and Tub?

My wife and I are looking at doing a faux spray countertop to make our bathroom countertop and tub look granite. We'd being using the same method as this link: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/60558/how_to_paint_your_bathroom_counter.html. Our countertop is one piece so the sink would have to be done also. My question is whether a clear coat sealer will stand up against the constant use of the sink. Do you think it will be able to protect the the paint job?

do not use it on the sink or tub -it will not hold up you need an epoxy coating for that-i've used this paint on a planter its doesn't leave smooth surface either so i would even question using it on a counter top (maybe marine varnish would work?)

We have got new cabinets with our old laminate countertops. They are plain white. We are going with a faux granite new countertop in laminate. I have a pattern I like in regular laminate and one in more expensive shiny metallic type of laminate that the lowes person says is more durable. Which should I choose? Is there really a difference besides cost? Note that there is a pattern in each I like equally. I was also wondering if anyone knows of any promos lowes is offering or soon will be on their countertops.

Iv'e been researching countertops also, it's confusing, so many choices now. Laminate has come a long way. The new laminate is more durable, looks better & will add more value to your house. It's worth the extra cost, but it really depends on your tastes & budget. I don't know if Lowes is running any sales, but home depot just had a 10% off sale on their countertops.
