How to grow an indoor moss garden?

I keep seeing little moss gardens on movies (there was one in that movie the holiday with Cameron Diaz on her coffee table & one in that d grade win a date with ted hamilton)

I was thinking I would take whatever container I am going to put it in, line it with some of that black heavy plastic like pond liner, fill it with rounded pieces of floral foam like hills & then a l thin layerr of potting soil & cover those the the moss & pin it in place with florist wire pins & give it a good water.

What do you think?

I tried googling it & I couldn't find anything on how to do it.

I would put down your container... I don't think you need to line.. use flat river stones... and line..... and shape how you want ..

find a running stream.... and pick moss that is friendly to stones or is feeding off of things you can supply naturally .. and mock what nature is doing

...or research zen gardens...
