There is no need for you to buy an expensive piece of art for you can easily transform an inexpensive print or poster into this with framing selections. When you select mat color make sure that they enhance your art. Ideal is a double or triple mat if you want it to pick up a color from the image. Top mats are best when in a neutral shade while colors are great for bottom mats. Getting double and triple mats will result in added dimension when framing.

Determining the mat width comes with considering the width of the frame as well as the size of the piece. Refrain from using one width when it comes to your mat and frame. Created is a striped pattern that detracts from the image. If there is a double mat then its bottom mat should extend to about half an inch. All sides of the mat should have the same width for it to look good.

Consider floating prints and other images with deckled or otherwise distinctive edges. Any floating image will be hinged to the front of your mat board. Using a mat board adds a border to the image. You need not worry about needing to place a print with uneven deckled edges perfectly centered on a mat. Considering that there is nothing distinctive about the edges the mats can be cut so that they could easily be placed over the image's edges.

People can have a hard time framing photographs. Great for formal photographs like wedding pictures and portraits are ornate wood frames in silver, gold and a variety of natural finishes but when it comes to art photographs including ones in black and white simple wood or metal frames in black or silver or with light natural wood frames are ideal. Considering black and white photographs, gold finished or cherry wood frames compete with these.

Should you have antique photographs go with elaborate framing. Resort to silver framing when dealing with old black and white photos. Choices for frames for sepia prints include antiqued gold finished frames and wooden ones like mahogany, ebony walnut, and cherry. Fabric liners as well as ornate mouldings go best with traditional paintings including portraits and landscapes. Contemporary paintings generally look best without liners and with simple frames.

Other than for paintings, photographs, prints, and posters framing has other uses. There are many uses for frames and they can be used for political buttons, old letters and postcards, fabrics, theater tickets, christening dresses if you want these to be displayed in your home or at the office. What is applied to gallery style framing is a minimalist look. Usually the frames are made from wood in natural finishes or matte black.

Such frames have straight edges and no kind of ornamentation. Gallery style framing also features extra thick mats, usually 8 ply, in various shades of white. Placed on all sides of an image as small as about 3 by 5 inches could be mats that are 5 inches. Aside from making it appear that the piece is important the heavy mats also draw the viewer's eye into the image.

Popular with antique furnishings and reproductions are elaborate wooden frames as they work well. Reflecting the opulent mood of the 1980s are the high sheen silver and gold frames whereas the antiqued silver and gold frames reflect the humble spirit of the 1990s. Variations exist with industrial metal frames and the metal frames from a decade ago. New versions are not only wider but they have cleaner lines and brushed finishes with cross hatching. In the same way as earlier metal frames, these are the most economical framing choices.

Revitalizing art photography are the famous photographers but restoration services are responsible for the popularity of restoring and framing your family's own antique photographs. With time the value of antique posters increases and even if they are rather expensive to frame they are still less expensive than many original artworks. They also are great for loft dwellers and other people who have lots of wall space.
