How do I create one of those water-plant vases with Betas?

I've been wanting to make one of those Vase displays with a Beta Fish in them like some reception Desks have. Where there is glass pebbles on the bottom, a beta fish swimming around in the middle and some sort of Water-based plant on top. So I was wondering what the plant was and if the Beta needs to be fed like they do in a Tank or if they just feed from the plant's roots.

I had one it would be best if you grow the lily first from a cutting .
But if not you can buy one and remove all the dirt I would leave the peace lily at least a couple of weeks in the container before you put the fish in. If you put the fish in with the plant.

I like this method better.
Use distilled water for both the plant and the fish. Follow these instructions carefully.
And yes the fish needs small amount of fish food.
Peace Lily Aquarium

Materials:
- Large Clear Glass Fishbowl
- Clear Glass Hurricane Vase or Glass Cylinder Vase
- Peace Lily
- Betta Fish
- 5 bags of colored marbles of your choice
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Clean soil from lily roots.
2. Fill glass cylinder halfway with marbles.
3. Place lily in marbles. Cover roots with more marbles.
4. Place glass cylinder in bowl, carefully pour marbles to cover the base and stabilize glass cylinder.
5. Fill bowl with room temperature water, leave 2-3" of space at the top so fish cannot escape bowl.
6. Fill cylinder with water (water level must remain just above the roots to keep plant healthy).
7. Carefully transfer betta fish to fishbowl.
