redecorate a house in sims 2...?

I can`t use any of the items in build mode...If i choose a wallpaper,I can`t put it on the wall,because the cursor does not change into that brush it should.I can`t even change the floor...I can`t drag,add or WHATEVER a wallpaper,a floor tile,a tree,the pool,not even the roof....what`s wrong?..Or what am I missing?..
on pc...sorry forgot to tell you...
I really don`t think it`s not working,I just can`t figure out what I`m missing...

The cursor doesn't change into a brush when putting wall paper up, just moved the cursor to the wall and the wall paper should appear. I remember this being a problem when the game first came out, after the social worker came your build mode would be disabled. Go download the patch and see if that works.

If you download something and put it in the game that could be the problem also, take out the download folder and see if the game works.

If not, reinstall it and see if that works. Still not working, take the game to the store and exchange it for another copy (some disc might be defective).
