How to plan an Easter Arts and Crafts children's party

 

Arts and Crafts activities are brilliant for getting children to stay creative and active over the Easter holidays. So why not hold an arts and crafts-based children's party on Saturday, 23rd April, in between Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

Companies like Baker Ross sell a fantastic range of innovative arts and crafts kits and products to help children get creative – buying them takes just a click of a mouse!

Before and after the party

Although the focus of the day will be all about arts and crafts, it is best to plan some additional activities before and after the party to burn off some of that ‘egg'-cess energy and make room for more chocolate!

Going on one of Cadbury's Easter Egg Trails could make the day even more memorable; these are being held during the Easter weekend at National Trust locations across the UK. Adults can look around the stately homes while children have fun taking part in the adventure of hunting for Easter eggs.

At the end of the day, if all that egg-hunting and creativity has exhausted the kids, they can unwind by sitting and watching the latest blockbuster Easter film.

How to create an Easter party atmosphere

Decorating the venue for your  Easter party is a great way of getting into the Easter spirit. Children can contribute by making scratch art Easter hanging decorations, scratching the specially-coated surface to produce rainbow-coloured designs featuring Easter chicks, eggs and bunnies.

Ceramic hanging eggs, which can be decorated with paint or porcelaina pens,are another ‘egg' - cellent way of getting in the swing of things.

What to wear

Easter Glitter Tattoos are set to be a big hit in 2011. Easily applied with water, they can just as easily be removed with baby oil.

Girls will love the chance to make and wear an Easter Bonnet – perfect for putting on their heads when they're trying to dodge those little April showers.

Getting children to design and make a Wooden Egg Cup will encourage them to discover how rewarding it is to make gifts for other people. Whose name will they put on the egg cup – Molly the pooch or one for every member of the family?

You could also get the children to sew some Funky Farm Egg Cosies. Making these animal-themed cosies will be a great introduction to the world of sewing and they will also help keep your boiled egg warm just that little bit longer the morning after the day of the party!

There's lots of fun to be had this Easter,  and it doesn't all have to be chocolate-related. However there is nothing like looking forward to an Easter egg after all that creativity!

Most cinemas will be showing the new Easter-related movie Hop during the Easter weekend. This animated film stars Russell Brand providing the voice for the main character  - E.B - the teenage offspring of the Easter Bunny.

There are also plenty of children's DVDs which use Easter as an inspiration for some exciting tales. Winnie the Pooh – Springtime with Roo is a perfect example. Made in 2004, this DVD follows the fortunes of Pooh, Piglet and Roo as they try to remind Rabbit of the fun of Easter.

Yogi the Easter Bear has an even more dramatic storyline; watch the DVD to find out whether Yogi and Boo Boo can rescue the kidnapped Easter Bunny.

Now that you've got your ‘before' and ‘after' activities planned, it's  time to arrange the party.
